Whilst going through some significant life changes, I embarked on a journey with a counsellor who had been referred to me. And whilst I thought I was there for marital advice, it ended up opening my eyes to ALL my relationships. Unbeknownst to me, this was the beginning of my lifelong journey ahead – uncovering, remembering, exploring the depths of the beautiful layered understanding of the human experience.
The first relationship I began to understand more clearly was the one with myself. My childhood memories flooded me with reminders of the little voices inside my head that contributed to my decisions. I had grown so accustomed to those voices that their impact went unnoticed by me, and even though my thoughts were subconscious, they had a damaging impact. Thoughts like “I’m not good enough”; “I am not worthy”; “I should have done things differently”; “It’s too late”. This way of thinking transpired into my life decisions. I believed I was a happy and positive person. However, deep down, I was filled with confusion and uncertainty about my identity and what I truly desired in life and in my relationships.
Even though I immersed myself in personal development for more than 20 years, there was still something missing. That is until I found the 3-Principles by Sydney Banks, “Universal Mind, Consciousness and Thought.” I was blown away by how much my life changed for the better – not momentarily but a lifelong shift – my relationships were easier, my reality was different, life was freer, more joyful, simpler.
I was finally content within myself. So, I decided to study the 3-Principles further. I felt that everyone should know this! I became a 3-Principles Facilitator and have been coaching ever since. Along this transformative path, I had the incredible opportunity to connect with the renowned and extraordinary Lorna Patten, one of the original pioneers in the field of transformational coaching. This encounter further solidified my destiny – to share my knowledge, understanding, experience, compassion, and love with those who are ready to embark on this profound journey alongside me. Lorna teaching me “The Biggest Game In Town!”, has added another layer to my understanding of life and the human gig. I continue to work with Lorna on a regular basis because the depth of this work is so profound, and she helps me to continue to gain valuable insights.
I work with adults, individuals, parents, single parents, and our youth and effortlessly am drawn to the children.
Why coach kids, you ask? Well, being a big kid at heart and having faced my fair share of teenage struggles (to put it mildly), coupled with raising my own two children, I felt a strong connection to our younger generation. I vividly recall the challenges, emotions, and obstacles that they too encounter. Reflecting on my own experiences, I realised that if I had been equipped with these guiding principles during my youth, alongside a non-judgmental mentor who truly understood me, I might have made different life choices. I embrace the decisions I’ve made as they have led me to this very path—a path where I can serve as a guiding light for our youth, their families, individuals, and anyone open to or yearning to walk a different journey.
My mission was to find a child-focused program that encapsulated the same thinking as the 3-Principles. That’s when I discovered iheart Principles – an evidence-based curriculum-based program derived from the 3-Principles, tailored specifically to children aged 9 to 18 taught in 22 countries. It was perfect! Inspired and driven, I became an iheart Principles facilitator. Deepening my comprehension of the human experience through the wisdom of the 3 principles and iheart, and with the profound insights from Lorna’s teachings, I am now able to discuss these concepts with children in a way they can grasp, all while encapsulating the essence of clarity and relatability.
So, does this approach apply to people from all walks of life? How is that possible? The beauty lies in the depth of understanding and teaching, which, if this work is genuinely profound, should be effective for all, regardless of age or background. Thankfully, I’ve come across this teaching, which has changed my life, and now I can extend that transformation to assist others in enhancing their life journey.
